This delicious apple pie is an irresistibly different version of that traditional dessert. It’s the perfect blend of creaminess and sweetness from a vanilla filling, as well as a strong flavor of fried apples. This pie also has a very special peach flavor.

This is how a delicious apple pie is made

Ingredients

This dessert is completely different from a traditional American apple pie. Below you will see the different ingredients for each section of the pie.

Pie base

  • Cold water
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 170 g of wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 110 g of unsalted butter

Vanilla filling

  • 1 vanilla stick
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon wheat flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 240 ml of whole milk

Apple filling

  • 5 apples
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Peach top

  • Peach jam (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

To make the pie base, start by mixing the wheat flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Then add butter and knead with your fingers.

Add the yolk and mix the dough well. Then add water until the dough forms an easily troublesome ball. Finally, wrap the dough ball in plastic wrap and allow to cool in the refrigerator for at least three hours.

To make the vanilla mixture, start by heating the milk in a saucepan with a vanilla bean. Mix the wheat flour, sugar, corn starch and protein well in another bowl. It is best to add a little hot milk to this mixture at this stage so that the ingredients mix well.

When the milk boils, remove it from the stove and take out the vanilla bean. Then add it to the previous mixture and mix everything together, preferably with a metal whisk. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens. 

The vanilla mixture is ready when it is thick. Place plastic wrap over the pan to prevent the surface from drying out. Put the vanilla mixture in the fridge with the pie base and let cool.

The next step is to make the apple filling. Start by heating the oven to 200 degrees. Peel and cut the apples into thin slices, mixing them well with the sugar and cinnamon. Add lemon juice to the apples to prevent them from turning brown.

Take the cold pie base from the fridge and place it in the pie pan. The pan should be 20 cm in diameter. Pour the vanilla mixture over the base.

Arrange the apple slices and small buttercups on top of the vanilla mixture. Before placing in the oven,  place strips of aluminum foil around the pie pan to prevent the base from burning. 

Put the apple pie in the oven and bake for 40 minutes. After the time has elapsed, remove the aluminum foil and leave the pie in the oven for another 10 minutes to allow it to cook properly.

Take the pie out of the oven when the base is golden brown and crispy. Let it cool. Finally, while the pie is still warm, heat the peach jam with the lemon juice. When it boils, pour it over the pie and add a special flavor to this delicious apple pie.
